DEMOCRATIC WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP COUNCIL ENDORSES CANDIDATES
October 20, 2005: The Democratic Women’s Leadership Council announced its awards to local women candidates today.
An affiliate of the Monroe County Democratic Committee founded in March of 2004, the group is dedicated to creating a strong, inclusive voice within the Monroe County Democratic Committee. Chief among the DWLC’s goals are promoting women candidates, developing political platforms and working to improve the lives of all women in Monroe County.
Of our 275 local elected officials, just 71 are women.
The following candidates were chosen based on their involvement with the Democratic Women’s Leadership Council, the compatibility of their platform with the DWLC’s mission, and the viability of their campaigns.
