TIMES CHANGING IN GATES (GATES-CHILI POST)


To the editor:

Thank you to the 3,000-plus Gates voters who voted for change in town and county government.

Thank you to the many supporters of the Gates Democratic slate who have telephoned, e-mailed, or hugged me since Election Day.

"You gave them a real run for their money!" said a neighbor to me. Another supporter said, "You played a brilliant game and nearly gave new definition to Susan B.'s 'Failure is Impossible.'"

Democracy was the real winner Nov. 8, as the voters of Gates had a choice for the first time on the Democratic line since 1997. It is clear that the times are changing in the town of Gates.

We are grateful for all the voters and supporters who are looking for a new vision of what Gates could become. We pledge to strengthen the Gates Democratic Committee and become more visible in the town in our efforts to restore two-party government to the town of Gates.
